Bad Breath? It Takes More Than Mouthwash
- Posted on: Jul 30 2015
Bad breath – everyone worries about having it, but many people don’t really know what the causes behind it are… and what that breath can be telling you. There are dozens of things that can cause bad breath. Almost all of those issues can be addressed and corrected easily.
Some of the options include:
- Hygiene Tips – Incredible as it may sound, it’s a fact — over 90% of U.S. adults don’t brush their teeth properly. Two minutes, twice a day. Your brushing should work in rotating circular motions to cover all the tooth surfaces and the gums. Don’t forget the roof of the mouth and your tongue. Flossing should be done once daily to remove any residual food and buildup between the teeth and just under the gum line.
- Periodontal Therapy – Bad breath that won’t go away can be a sign of much bigger problems — gum disease. Things like infected teeth and abscesses in the gums involve bacteria and infections that create noxious breath. But regular trips to Dr. Miller will allow us to catch gum disease before it gains a foothold.
- Deep Cleaning – Speaking of those regular twice-yearly visits, that’s when you’ll receive a professional deep cleaning and thorough oral exam. We’ll make your teeth sparkle and put your bad breath behind you.
